HomeWeb design & build

Designed and built by the same hands.

Most projects lose their shape in the gap between the design file and the build. There is no gap here — the person who draws it is the person who ships it, from the first Figma frame to a site that’s live and quick.

01 What you get

Three ways this usually starts.

  1. 01

A new site, designed and built

You need a site and you don’t have a designer. I do both halves: layouts in Figma on your real content, sign-off before code, then the build and the deploy. One person answering for how it looks and how it runs.

    • Figma
    • Next.js
    • WordPress
  2. 02

    A build from your design

You already have a designer or a finished file. I turn it into a site that keeps the detail — the spacing, the type, the motion — rather than the approximation you get when a developer is guessing at intent.

    • React
    • Node
    • Django
  3. 03

    A rebuild of something slow

The site works but it’s heavy, dated, or quietly losing enquiries. I rebuild it and show the difference in numbers — Lighthouse and load time before and after, not adjectives.

    • Core Web Vitals
    • Migration
    • WordPress

02 Proof

Three sites, designed and built.

Faster, and pointed at the booking

Coventry’s largest private-hire operator

A fleet of 250 vehicles running 140,000 journeys a month, behind a website that was slow and buried the one thing customers arrived for — a fare and a booking. I redesigned and rebuilt it in WordPress so their own team can maintain it, and rewired the route from landing page to enquiry.

Radcliffe Admissions

Oxford law admissions consultancy

The pitch here is an argument, not a brochure — so the site is built to be read. Long-form editorial pages set in a serif that holds up at length, a results section, a guide to the Oxford process, and a light–dark toggle for the people doing their research at midnight. Designed and built end to end.

03 — Design & build · Retired

LCA Clips

Video content & marketing agency

Design and build, both mine. An agency’s whole offer on one page: brand positioning up top, then the service breakdowns, a case-study grid, tiered pricing and a contact flow — arranged so a visitor could find the tier that fits them without emailing to ask.

The agency has since closed, so the site is no longer up.

03 Questions

The ones I get asked first.

Do you design as well as build?

Yes — that’s the point of hiring me rather than two people. I’ll design it in Figma on your real content, and you sign it off before a line of code exists. If you’d rather bring your own design, that’s fine too.

WordPress or something custom?

Whichever you’ll actually be able to live with. If your team needs to edit pages weekly without ringing a developer, WordPress is usually the honest answer. If the site is mostly fixed and needs to be fast, a static build is lighter and cheaper to host. I’ll recommend one and explain why rather than defaulting to whatever I feel like building.

Will I be able to update it myself?

That’s a requirement, not a nice-to-have. Whatever we build, you get a handover that covers the things you’ll actually want to change — text, images, prices, a new page — without needing me.

How fast will it be?

Fast enough that it isn’t costing you enquiries. I check against Lighthouse and Core Web Vitals before you ever see it, and on a rebuild I’ll show you the before and after rather than asking you to take my word for it.

Do you do Shopify?

No. It’s a specialism in its own right and you’d be better served by somebody who lives in it. I’d rather tell you that than learn on your budget.

Do you work with agencies?

Yes, white-label as standard. Fixed price agreed up front, NDA signed, and I stay invisible to your client. Useful when your bench is full and a deadline isn’t moving.

Where are you based?

Coventry. I’ll come to you anywhere in Coventry or Birmingham for kick-off and handover, and work remotely in between. Plenty of the work is for clients I never meet in person, which is also fine.

Tell me what it needs to do.

A rough brief is enough to start. I’ll come back with a scope and a fixed price, usually the same day.
